I’m Dr. Clióna.
I am an Irish doctor. I went to University at NUI Galway where I studied Medicine. I completed the Cork GP Specialist Training scheme, I have a Masters of Science in Bioinnovation, a Post Grad Diploma in Forensic Medicine, a Diploma in Medicine for the Elderly and a Masters in Public Health.
Why does that matter?
It doesn’t. But for those who are sceptical of blogs and ill advice, or advice from someone who is ‘not a real doctor’, this is my background.
At times, I find my patients asking questions or looking for advice about the type of tonics that might help reduce infections, they want to talk about how to stay well or feel better. They wonder about whether they should take, or indeed if they need to take supplements to improve their intake of nutrients to stay healthy. How do we stay well ? Can we age well ? What exercises should I do to help myself lose weight and or/de-stress!
Of course these are all really important issues !
Time constraints generally prevent an in depth discussion on many of these.
This blog is a personal reflection of the latest evidence with respect to vitamins, minerals and supplements, as well as diets, exercise and my own opinion of the literature.
Some of the things I’m going to talk include :
- Vitamins – All of them ! What they do in and for our bodies, how to have a diet that provides you with the right amounts, and what vitamins to take if it’s difficult to achieve a the correct diet all the time.
- Sleep ! Sleep Hygiene, Naps …zzzz!
- Cardiovascular Health
- Public Health Issues in Ireland and in Emerging economies.
Sometimes I’ll write, sometimes I’ll post videos other times will drop a podcast.
I hope you enjoy. X
